Membership and Evangelism Committee

This committee performs the following functions:
1.    The committee meets on the first Wednesday of each month at 3:00pm.
2.   Process prospective members
3.   Schedule greeters
4.   Work as greeters   8:15 ___   11:00 ___
5.   Manage website and church calendar
6.   Manage church directory
7.   Supply coffee mug ministry
8.   Conduct new member dinners
9.   Sponsor summer coffee
10. Construct(ed) and manage name tag holders

New members are the lifeblood of Trinity’s continuing success.  For this reason, emphasis has been placed on improving the information we collect from our many guests, and responding quickly and thoughtfully to each. The traditional friendship pads have been replaced by an insert in each Sunday bulletin.  Guests may also introduce themselves through a form that may be completed on the website. It is transmitted directly to the membership committee.   As many as 20% of our Sunday worshipers are regular visitors.  This is the primary group from which our new members eventually come.

Trinity’s greeters are regularly scheduled for both traditional services in an effort to greet all worshipers with a happy face, and assist in whatever ways that may be needed.  Several greeter schedulers rotate responsibility assigning greeters to the early and late services.

Trinity’s website is under the oversight of the Membership Committee.  It was redesigned in 2013 to be accessible by hand-held devices as well as computers.  Currently (August 2017) it covers 62 published pages and has registered over 88,000 page visits.  The most frequently visited pages are the home page, church directory, and the website page.  The greatest number of page visits in a day is 350. We own two website addresses:  http://trinitypresbyterianchurch.us, and http://trinitypresbyterianchurchpalmcoast.us.  The original domain name was retained and forwards all traffic to the new domain when the new website was created.  The website reduces the amount of printed material needed, and a number of automatic features (forms) speed institutional communication from days or weeks to instantly.

Our Church Directory was moved from the usual independent contractor to an in-house operation several years ago.  It currently includes 316 families, most with pictures, and is available in three versions:  A print edition is updated once or twice a year, a website edition that is password protected, and an always updated online version is available at http://instantchurchdirectory.com.  The directory is a communication necessity for those with active involvement in the Trinity family.

Coffee mugs with a picture of Trinity’s front elevation and greetings are currently being given to all first time visitors to Trinity’s Sunday services, one cup per family. About 40-50 mugs per month are used in this ministry, leading to the occasion statement that “we mug our visitors”.

Picture cabinets of currently serving elders, deacons.  Pictures of new members are included on a special page in the website, and also on the picture display in the church narthex.

Committee meetings are held at the church on the first Wednesday of each month at 3:00pm.
