Some of you have been asking when we will get new name tags.  The racks are being constructed and we hope to have them ready in January. All members on our rolls will have a new tag.  In addition, for everyone who worships with us, we would like you to have a tag, too.  Please call the office and let Karen Stickle or Jan Roberts know to have a tag made for you.  It will be good to be able to call all the folks we see on Sunday by name.

The Advent Devotionals in printed format works fine, day-by-day, page by page.  Unfortunately, the same booklet as published to the website follows a format that does not turn pages one at a time.  For this reason, for those of you who would like to read the online version page by page, follow the below instructions:

Read each page through November 30,

Then read alternate December pages (left and right) to the bottom of the online document,

Then read alternate December pages (left and right) from the bottom of the document back up to December 25.

Sorry about this inconvenience, but when dealing with computers our traditional habits simply don’t work very well.

Preparing an advance directive:  An advance directive is a broad term designed to help us make plans for those we leave behind.   This kind of program, or its equivalent, has not been presented for Trinity’s worshipers in over 15 years. For this reason two time periods from 10:ooam to 10:45am on both Sunday, October 23 and Sunday, October 30 have been reserved for these presentations in Mehaffey Hall.  Some materials may be available to accompany each presentation.  Current plans are for the program to be presented only one time, so mark your calendars. Coffee and light refreshments may be available.

October 23 will include (A) health directives for hospital, hospice care, living will, power of attorney, estate planning, and last will and testament.  Dave Eldridge, a practicing attorney, will deal with this segment.  This period also includes (B) planning expressions of sympathy, flowers, and memorial gifts. Del Smith will cover these topics.

October 30 will address (A) the specifics of planning the memorial service.  Rev. Watson will make this presentation, and (B) body preparation, funeral home, burial, cremation, vault, and casket requests.  Rev. Scott will address these issues.   (Membership and Evangelism Committee)

For those of you who are interested, but are unable to attend Trinity’s two 45-minute programs, a day-long program is being offered to the public at the Old Yacht Club (across the street from Trinity) from 9:00am to 4:00 pm on Wednesday, October 5.  It is free to the public, and overflow parking is authorized to park in Trinity’s parking lots.  A cash bar may be available at the Old Yacht Club.

Since we have replaced our Christmas tree with a much smaller version this year, we will need to cycle out our large Chrismon ornaments. We will place those on a table in the narthex Sundays, September 18 and October 2.  If you were one of the original artisans who made them, please feel free to take them home. They are lovely and all the work that went in to making them is greatly appreciated. Chrismon Committee
