Trinity’s session participated in the Presbytery’s Holy Listening project in the Spring of this year. At the same time two of us were visiting other churches in the Presbytery. One of these churches was the San Mateo Presbyterian Church about 20 miles west of Bunnell on Highway 100. While their church was built in 1880 and is in mint condition, they have updated their campus and are providing a distinctive service to the community.
On the 3rd Thursday of each month in Fall, Winter, and Spring San Mateo prepares $8.00 dinners for guests from the community. From 4:30 to 7:00pm they provide both dine-in or carry out from their newest facility built with this purpose in mind. Their meals alternate between fish one month and chicken the next. Four Trinity members attended their chicken dinner this past Thursday, October 15. It was outstanding. Next month will be fish, which is reported to be more popular than chicken. Unlike the story of the fish and loaves, when 300 dinners have been served there is no more.
Many in our congregation are already familiar with this 3rd Thursday dinner opportunity. Please circle this day on your calendar and plan to visit our sister Presbyterian Church in San Mateo. Don’t be late!
